Meet your 2017-2018 Patron’s Association Board!
Diane Weglein – President
Diane Weglein is currently serving on the Patrons’ board as President. Her children, Audrey (6th) and Connor (5th) , have been at SJA since Kindergarten. Diane began volunteering at the Academy as a Kindergarten Room Parent, and has since had many volunteer opportunities, including school store helper, Art helper, Christmas Shoppe decorator, Christmas Shoppe Café helper, Graul’s Lunch Program Chair, Jingle Bell Junction cashier, Used Uniform Sale cashier, Field Day helper, and Rec Soccer and LAX coach, to name a few. Her favorite event at SJA? Well, Diane loves them all! She enjoys the opportunity to meet other parents, grandparents, and friends of the SJA community, and she does this by volunteering. She has made some great friends over the years at St. James Academy, and the community feel and the traditions of this small country school is what drew Diane and her family to the Academy. In her free time, Diane enjoys playing tennis, reading, and spending time with her family.
Jessie Sheckells, Vice President
Jessie is looking forward to an exciting year at SJA! There are so many fun Patron sponsored events throughout the year but the one she and her family look forward to the most is the Foxhound Festival. When not supporting the Academy as Vice President she is trying to keep up with her two children, Gordon and Elsa. As a graduate of SJA herself she looks forward to watching the academy grow and change alongside of its original mission.
Christina Markakis, Secretary/Lower School Coordinator
Christina is serving in her second year as Patrons’ Secretary. She is a mommy of three awesome boys, Taylor (3rd grade), Tucker (2nd grade), and Toby (Pre-K). Christina and her boys travel a lot to see their daddy play baseball. When she’s not busy with her boys, Christina likes to run and read. The Markakis family loves the feeling of St. James being an extension of their home, and can’t wait for Field Day every year!
Kennon Hanna, Treasurer
Kennon is beginning a two year term as Patrons’ Board Treasurer. She is mommy to Peyton, who is entering 2nd grade. Kennon is looking forward to the Patrons’ events held during the school year and agrees with Peyton that the Foxhound Fall Festival is one of their favorites, because it is the first big event of the school year, and everyone is excited to see old friends and make new ones. During Kennon’s free time, she loves to be out on the Chesapeake Bay boating with her husband, Kevin, Peyton, and chocolate lab, Brownie.
Rhonda Alonso, Middle School Coordinator
This will be Rhonda’s third year as a member of the SJA community. She has a daughter, Sela, in 6th grade and a son, Frankie, in 4th grade. Rhonda has been actively involved in volunteering since joining the SJA community, including: the SJA school store, submitting Box Tops, and various school wide events throughout the school year. She is serving her first year on the Patrons’ Board as Middle School Coordinator. Her favorite annual event at SJA has been the Foxhound 5k and Family Fun Run. It not only includes our SJA school community, but allows local families and friends in our community to join, as well. Looking forward to another eventful school year! Let’s go Foxhounds!
Kristen Foard, Past President
Kristen is serving in her fourth year on Patrons’ Board; this year she is Past President. She has two sons at SJA, Jackson (6th grade) and Mason (3rd grade). Kristen and her boys love to go the beach in the summer and ski in the winter. Christmas Shoppe has always been Kristen’s favorite Patrons’ event because it elicits cozy feelings of Christmas, family, food and community – all things that she cherishes.
